(Low-quality featured image is unrelated to this entry… but here are some of the kind souls who made Y3S1 manageable 🙂 )
I’ve thought long and hard about this – whether to make a full-time switch to WordPress or to continue posting blurbs on Dayre. I’ve been using these two platforms for different purposes – WordPress for travel-related entries and Dayre for daily, on-the-go updates. I enjoy using both of them but lately I’ve been toying with the idea of developing my writing style, which I have concluded to be clean, easily-digestible and hopefully, thought-provoking. It is a craft I am determined to hone, starting with being mindful of the linguistic choices I make to the overall tone of each entry.
Then of course, writing requires logic and coherence, which are two qualities I hope to eventually possess in abundance.
And such skills can only be cultivated through regular writing and rigorous editing, which I find WordPress conducive for.
As for Dayre, well, while I relish the excitement of posting quick updates, I sometimes feel that I’m only updating for the sake of updating. It lacks long-term gratification, you know? There is a 500-character limit each time I post on Dayre and that puts my summary skills to the test.
(You can break a day’s entry into multiple parts (“posts”) but it’s gets troublesome after a while.)
But I’m not looking to practise my summary skills, and neither do I want to write in shorthand if I can help it, especially for personal reflections that I have come to enjoy writing in prose.
So yes… I’m making Pickledpumpkins @ WordPress permanent 🙂
Also, I feel terrible now so imma take a nap. See (some of??) y’all soon!
How are you able to take a nap at noon on a Friday.
