Felt so lethargic and distracted at work today as though I had joined my colleagues for their overseas retreat over the weekend. Maybe it’s because I kept tossing and turning in bed last night, sigh. Anyway, here are some takeaways from the weekend –
- Out-of-focus photo but it’s the only one I look good in because you can’t see my face clearly.
- I’m beginning to like my hair more. I think I will consider keeping this bob for as long as possible.
- Zootopia was average. It has a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes (seriously?) but I beg to differ. It’s your typical Disney animation with a cliched, feel-good storyline and an all-too predictable ending. The only scenes that I found reasonably amusing were those featuring the sloths. This speaks volumes considering I am easily amused. Watch only if you are paying student prices. Otherwise, don’t bother.
- To add on to Wan Qi’s list of Mediocre and Overrated Lifestyle Choices, Jamie’s Italian and Caffe Bene were disappointing. Jamie’s Italian opened to much fanfare in Singapore three/four years ago but the pasta (obviously its signature range) is nothing to rave about. Okay, so I only tried two dishes – Crab Spaghettini and Mushroom Risotto – but both the sauces were thin and diluted they tasted bland. I wouldn’t be complaining this much if each of these dishes cost $10 but they cost $26++ each. That’s more than five hours of work! As for Caffe Bene, we tried their bingsoo but the shavings were so thick we thought we were eating ice-kachang. Again, one small cup (portion enough for three) cost $15.90 which IMHO is grossly overpriced considering the serving is 70% ice, 20% whipped cream and 10% legitimate filling.
- What a rant.
- No, I am not a food critic, but living on a tight monthly allowance has taught me to be more prudent in my spending, which includes buying food that is value-for-money.
- I spent my Saturday evening with my Lisa1nonly LMAO. Chilled at Coronation Plaza after dinner and I’m glad to have found another friend who is as easily amused as I am, and more importantly, somebody who is patient and understanding. Thank you for the HTHT 🙂
- Played tennis with Paul and co. yesterday and I am finally seeing some improvements in my serve! During one of our many water breaks, Paul recounted an incident where he was starstruck after meeting one of his S-League idols at work. Always a joy to be around him, this Paul 🙂
- I made an impromptu trip to Times Bookstore to search for Sheri’s birthday present. I left empty-handed but I have two books to add to my reading list:
- To Set a Watchman – Harper Lee
- 1984 – George Orwell
Mhmm I think I will probably start on 1984 first because the idea of dystopia is particularly intriguing to me right now… I don’t know why either so please spare me the questions.
Lastly, how on earth did my previous post generate higher-than-average views???
Omg lmk if you think TSAW is worth reading hahaha I a bit scared of ruining my impression of Atticus 😦
